Owen founded Slingshot in 1995 with the belief that clients and agencies were missing out on opportunities enabled by the exploding media landscape and digital environment. Prior to that, he spent seven years running businesses as diverse as Tom-Thumb Grocery Stores, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Pergo Flooring at The Richards Group. Owen started his career planning media for brands owned by Nestlé and Anheuser Busch for what is now known as Publicis Mid-America. One of Owen’s first loves was architecture, which was his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia. Later Owen would return to his hometown of Dallas where he would earn his MBA at SMU. And while he’s worn many hats throughout his career, his favorite two are those of husband and dad.

David may seem mild mannered, but plans to make your brand famous are brewing. He has 16 years of experience of leading big names like ATT@Home and HealthSouth.com as well as start-ups like iChoose.com. His fortes include: establishing consumer brands in any media and leading marketing teams in design and development of large websites as well building large databases. In his 11 years at Slingshot he has worn many hats. Today, in addition to running Slingshot’s B2B practice, David oversees daily operations including the strategy, programming, web production and media functions within the Agency.

Karen has been with Slingshot for over eight years and in that time has proven that her energy puts a spark plug to shame. With over 25 years of financial and accounting experience, from public accounting with a large global firm to advertising agencies of all sizes, Karen definitely has us covered in the money department. Proud and vocal about being a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Karen shows her Longhorn pride wherever she goes. And it’s no surprise that her first childhood calling was to be a veterinarian – she and her husband are parents to no fewer than five canine companions.

Susan began her career as an Art Director working for NYC advertising legends Jerry Della Femina and Cliff Freeman. Later she joined BBDO/NY where she rose up the ranks to Sr. VP Creative Director working for clients like Pepsi, Visa and AOL. She met the prince of darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, and her Super Bowl spot for Pepsi which featured “The Osbournes” earned her an Emmy nomination. Her mantle at home includes a few Clios, a Lion, Effies, Addys and the London Internationals. Susan has also created her own charitable line of vintage rock ‘n roll style apparel for dogs called TORU.

Gordon, a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, is on his second stint at Slingshot, returning as Vice President of Media Services. Prior to rejoining the agency, he founded Marketing & Media Partners, a consultant-based marketing and media services firm, working directly with clients and agencies on planning, strategy and business development initiatives. Over the years he has led media for clients such as Big A Auto Parts, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Greyhound, Joe’s Crab Shack, Mission Foods, Subway, Suzuki Motorcycles, and Tony Roma’s. Gordon is an adjunct instructor at Southern Methodist University where he teaches media to undergraduate advertising majors.

Award-winning author. Former marketing agency owner. Listed in the inaugural edition of Who’s Who In Advertising. Our co-leader of account service has quite a list of accomplishments. His book, Underdog Advertising was winner of USABookNews.com Best Books 2006 National Book Awards in the “Business: Marketing & Advertising” category. His work has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally. Paul was also president of Flowers & Partners Marketing Communications for 23 years, before merging his advertising agency with Slingshot. Today Paul runs Circa 46, a Slingshot company that specializes in marketing to seniors.
